Oak Sleeper Bench – Description
All our premium oak sleeper benches, tables and doorstops are made from new European oak sleepers that are sourced from sustainably managed forests. The reason we use new oak to for our sleepers bench seat is that original railway sleepers have often undergone many years of pressure and are typically treated with creosote to preserve the wood from insects and fungi but can be dangerous if it comes into contact with skin, often seeping out of original railway sleepers in the heat. That’s why we use the highest quality wood to stick to the traditional sleeper style without the risk.
We take great care in the crafting of each single one of our products, ensuring it meets your exact requirements and arrives to you in perfect condition. We can also provide customisation such as engraving if you wish to purchase a sleeper bench seat as a gift or in memory of someone.
The sleepers start at 200mm x 100mm (sizes may vary slightly). The oak is planned, sanded twice using different grit sand paper, bevelled around the top edges then treated with two coats of Manns UV Decking Oil. All of this is completed to a very high standard resulting in beautiful, desirable benches and tables. All of our benches and tables are hand made to order. This means our products may take 10-20 working days for assembly (depending on the volume of orders). We’ll keep you updated on our progress and give you an estimated delivery date. We provide free delivery across England.
Our benches come as standard at 450mm high. We offer a version with longer legs, so the benches can be fixed into the ground for safety and security (a popular choice for schools, businesses and for public spaces). We can make benches to other heights too, just let us know your requirements and we will be happy to help.
Our standard sizes are as follows:
